How to contact us

Hi there . . .

Our names are Kristleifur ( called Krissi ) and Vilma. We live in a city named Reykjavik, which is in Iceland. Our main hobby is cat - breeding and taking care of our cats (see Our cattery and Our cats). We have a seven year old daughter named Sesselia Dogg who also is crazy about cats (this must be in the blood...). We are members in Kynjakettir which is the only cat -breeding club in Iceland (see Cats in Iceland).

We would like to hear from you so please sign our GUESTBOOK

Or if you like just view our GUESTBOOK and see who has been there, be our guest .

Our cattery

Our cattery is named " Vetrarheims " and is registered by FIFe through Kynjakettir (see Cats in Iceland). We think that the name fits well because it means "Winterworld's" and we do live in Iceland . . . The cattery is still very small but we hope that it will grow in the future. We breed Norwegian forest cats (see Norwegian forest cats). There aren't many "real" Norwegian forest cats in Iceland, so people here are still getting to know this fantastic breed.

Our cats

We own 3 cats now, 2 Norwegian forest cats and 1 semi-longhaired housecat. Our cats are really just a part of the family but 1 of them are now staying in the country with Vilma“s mother. Take a closer look at our cats, see information regarding them and pictures of them on their pages. And you can also see some more pictures in our photoalbum and now we have some new photos from last show and of Vetrarheims Blundur, the new family member.

Vintergęk Felis Jubatus is all white with blue eyes and a Norwegian forest cat. She has it all, good looks and great personality.

Then there is Vetrarheims Vorboši. This guy is also white Norwegian forest cat but he has yellow-green eyes. NEW ! Show results !

And then we "own" Mikki, black and white semilonghair housecat, but he stays out in the country.

Cats in Iceland

There is only one cat - breeding club in Iceland, it's called Kynjakettir and is in FIFe. We have shows about three times a year. Many people have imported cats from other countries, so many cats from all over Europe and from U.S.A live here. Compared to cat - breeding clubs in other countries Kynjakettir is only a small group, that's good in many ways. There aren't many strangers in such a small group... Kynjakettir do not have a homepage yet but if you like to know more you could send us your question and we can get to the right people (see How to contact us).

Norwegian forest cats

Norwegian forest cat ( "Norsk skaukatt" ) comes from Norway like you can guess from the name. These are beautiful, big and strong cats with semilonghaired coat. Their coat is thick, with undercoat which is overlaid with water-repellent hairs. In the winter time they have long neck "ruff", "knickerboxes" on the hind legs and tufts on the ears. Their summer coat is usually shorter. Their tail is long and bushy. They come in almost all colors. They have long straight nose, and the nose should form a triangle with the ears. These are friendly cats often lively and playful.
