Grassroots Activism

What is it?

Grassroots activism is all about individual citizens -- the grassroots -- acting on their own initiative to change the system, whether it be the education system in CRER's case, the tax system, the healthcare system, or any other area of need.

When Congress is in session and debating education issues, periodic CRER alerts and updates are e-mailed to members. They provide information on the bill in question (including its number designation), contact data, and suggested action on the bill. When Congress returns from its winter recess in January 1998, links to "sample" letters will be added to this site.

How can I participate?

For additional information on the status of legislation or Congressional votes, visit Project Vote Smart, or check the House and Senate rollcall vote updates. Use these resources prior to contacting appropriate public officials or publicly writing or speaking about the issues.

Send CRER additional ideas for this action list. Please specify "grassroots action list" in the subject.
