A former Lake City man, Bernard D Adkins, 79, of Dayton, Ohio, died Oct 23 at the Hospice of Dayton.

He was a member of the Bear Wallow Baptist Church in Caryville. He was a retired coal miner and construction worker.

Born Sept 25, 1913, in Lake City, Mr Adkins had resided there for 40 years before moving to Dayton.

He was the son of the late William and Sarah Harmon Adkins.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Blackwell Adkins of Dayton; a daughter, Mrs Pat Cushing, of Philadelphia, Pa; two grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Services were held Saturday night in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev Don Whited, Brother Carl Bradshaw and the Rev Jim Williford officiating. Burail will be Sunday at 11 am. at Oak Grove Cemetery.
