Calvin “Rat” Aslinger, 75, of Lake City, died Monday in the home of his daughter.
Mr. Aslinger attended Faith Missionary Baptist Church, and was a retired coal miner, logger and sawmill operator. He enjoyed people and his cattle, ducks, and other animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Phillips Aslinger; and mother, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Braden Phillips.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bayless and Carolyn Aslinger and Buddy and Sheila Aslinger, both of Briceville, Bennie and Nancy Aslinger of Lake City and Brian and Lisa Aslinger of Toledo, OH; sons, Blake Aslinger of Lake City and Barry Aslinger of Toledo, OH; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and James Foust of Oak Ridge, Brenda and Matthew Phillips of Lake City and Barbara and Robert Bullman of Caryville; daughter, Betty Reynolds of Toledo, OH; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and James Muncey of Oak Ridge and Lorene Odell of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was 2 pm Wednesday in Cox Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Reece and the Rev. Edwin Phillips officiating. Burial followed Indain Bluff Cemetery in Briceville.
