George Herbert Baber, 71, of Sherwood Road, Claxton, died Wednesday at the Methodist MedicalCenter of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Baber was born 14 July 1922 in Dayton to the late George H, Sr., and Bess L Jones Baber.
He retired as a coal tower foreman at the Bull Run Steam Plant with the Tennessee Valley Authority after 30 years service.
A veteran of the U S Air Force, he served in the European Theartre druing WWII.
A brother, William Henry Baber, died earlier.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy G Baber of Claxton; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Gary Richards; son and daughter-in-law, George F and Brenda Baber; grandsons Matthew Baber and Marcus Richards and Granddaughter, Brandi Richards, all of Claxton; a brother, Franklin M Baber of Kingston and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Friday at Holley-Gamble Chapel with the Rev Glenn Gamble officiating. Burial was Sunday at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
