Charlie James Bailey, 79, of Clinton, died Wednesday in Oak Ridge Health Care Center.

The son of William and Mammie Scarboro Bailey, he was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Anderson County. Mr. Bailey was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was retired as janitor of Memorial United Methodist Church, Clinton, after 17 years of service.

His wife Pearl Irene Bailey preceded him in death.
P>Survivors include daughter, Betty Jane and Ronnie Mitchell of Clinton; grandson, Raymond Mitchell of Clinton; sisters, Irene Hoskins of Clinton and Bertha Woodby of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Grace Scarboro and Elsie Huckaby of Clinton; and brother-in-law, Everette Huckaby of Clinton.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday in Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Franklin Massengill officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Clinton
