Martha Elizabeth Bailey, 98, of
Clinton, died Tuesday in
Windwood Health Care Center, Clinton.
The daughter of Amos Marshall
and Martha Elizabeth
Monger, she was born in Roane County. Mrs. Bailey moved to Clitnon in
1938. A housewife, she
loved to cook and was a member of Harriett Rebecca Lodge in Clitnon for
more than 60 years. Mrs.
Bailey was a member of Memorial Untied Methodist Church for many
years.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; half-brother, Floyd Hamilton; husband,
Joseph Nelson Bailey; and
son, Haskell Arnold Bailey.
Survivors include daughter, Zola Davis
of Alcoa; daughter and
son-in-law, Imogene and Dewitt Blissett of Knoxville; daughter-in-law,
Kate Bailey of Clitnon;
grandchildren, Delores Johnson of Clinton, Bobby Joe and Sylvia Davis and
Betty and Jimmy Minge, all
of Maryville, and Patricia Blissett of Seattle, Wash.;
great-grandchildren, Melissa and Darrell Smith of
Clitnon, Ricky Minge of Louisville, Tonya and Billy Cupp of North
Carolina, Mike and Bonny Davis and
Crystal Davis, and Tammy and Mike Wells, all of Maryville;
great-great-grandchildren, Chelsea Smith
of Clinton, Jennifer Smith of Morganton, NC., Tyler Wells, Ryan Wells,
Erik Davis and Christopher
Davis, all of Maryville; several nieces and nephews; and a host of
special friends.
Funeral
service was Saturday with the Rev. Samuel Dean officiating. Burial was
Sunday in Sunset
Cemetery.
