The Rev. Roscoe Baird, 73, of Caryville Rt. 1, Ridgeview community, died Saturday at his home.

He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and had pastored several Baptist churches in the area.

Mr. Baird also was a retired carpenter.

His parents, Pryor and Bell Wilson Baird, and a brother, the Rev. Bascal Baird, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ovie Baird of Caryville; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Bill Waddell of LaFollette; sons and daughters-in-law, C.H. and Emma Baird of Caryville and Larry and Jayne Baird of Lake City; seven grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; sisters, Josephine Fortin and Faye Zimbro, both of New Albany, Ind.; brothers, A.L. Baird of Sellersburg; Buddy Baird of New Albany, Ind., and James Baird of Sellersburg; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services were held Monday at Ridgeview Baptist Church with the Rev. J. T. Leach and the Rev. David Crowley officiating. Burial was at Ridgeview Cemetery. Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
