Mae Jewell Summers Baker, age 96, born July 31, 1902, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at Roane Medical Center.
She moved from Powell to Kingston in 1960 to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Howard Phillips. Mrs. Baker was a member of Mount Herman Methodist Church in Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Debbie Summers; husband, Nero Baker; sons, John A Worry Baker and James R. (Jim) Baker; and brother, Ed Summers.
Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Howard Phillips of Kingston, Christine “Teena” and Hurchel York of Powell; son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Marion Baker of Powell; grandchildren, Sue Shriner, Denise Dameron, Cheryl Rickman, John R. Baker, Michel Baker and Karen Baker; great-grandchildren, Meagan Shriner, Jeremy Smith, Crystal Baker and Jacob Baker; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Ermal McClain; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6-8 pm Monday, April 5, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services followed in the chapel with the Rev. Dan Griffey officiating.
Interment was 11 am Tuesday, April 6, in the Mount Herman Methodist Church Cemetery, Powell.
