A former resident of 428 Highland
Drive in Clinton,
Margaret Ethel baker, 80, of Oak Ridge Retirement Center, died Monday at
the Methodist Medical
Center of Oak Ridge. She lived in Clinton about 30 years.
Mrs.
Baker was born Dec. 18,
1912, in Roane County to Thomas Abraham and Allie Mae Martin Carter. She
retired from the Y-12
Plant of Union Carbide Corp. after 34 years service in the chemical
services division.
She
was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Clinton.
Her
husband was the late
Homer Curl Baker. The couple enjoyed traveling in the United States and
she had made many trips to
different parts of the world. Photography was another
interest.
Survivors include a stepson,
Harold Baker and his wife, Evelyn, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Elena
Strasser and her husband, Joseph,
of Nashville; Ruth Rosenthal and her husband, Ben, of Clarksville; Madge
Hamby of Florence, Ala.;
stepgrandsons, Danny Baker of Oklahoma; Terry Baker and Keith Baker of
Knoxville; nieces, Audrey
Clark of Lenoir City; Karen Cook of Ionia, Mich.; nephew, Tom Carter
Gouge of Ionia,
Mich.
Memorial services will be tonight (Wednesday) at 8:30 pm at
Weatherford Mortuary
with the Rev. Glenn Patterson officiating. The family asks that any
memorials be made to St. Mark
United Methodist Church Building Fund, 252 North Main Street, Clinton, TN
37716..
