Mack O. Barger, 80, of Harriman, died Thursday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
A Newport native, Mr. Barger lived in this area for 75 years. He was a charter member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. He was a retired self-employed well driller.
Mr. Barger was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Verne Rayder Barger; his first wife, Willie Jean Hendrickson Barger; and two brothers, Charlie and Arthur Barger.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Lee Barger of Harriman; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. and Rita Barger and Larry Wayne Barger, all of Harriman; stepchildren and spouses, Gene and Mattie Lou Lee of Oliver Springs, J.W. and Loraine Lee of LaFollette, Charles Ed and Nancy Lee of Rockwood, Barbara Smith of Oliver Springs, and Geraldine and Charles Prewitt of St. Cloud, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Ellen Barger of Harriman; sister-in-law, Daisy Barger of Harriman; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Saturday in Pine Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Gleason McKamey officiating. Graveside service and burial will be 2 pm Sunday in Roane Memorial Gardens of Harriman.
Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
