Nellie Kate Barnett, 90, of Center Lane, Clinton Rt. 5, died Monday afternoon at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was born Feb. 21, 1903, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Susie Dotson and Mac Holloway.

Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by an infant son, J.D. Barnett; her husband, Walker Dewey Barnett in 1977, and her granddaughter, Barbara Mae Gardner in 1989.

She was a member of Batley Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Willie Barnett and wife Delores of Clinton, Samuel Willard Barnett and wife, Estelle of Magnolia, Ark.; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris Barnard and husband Dewey Fred and Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Bill all of Clinton; and Myrtis Canaday and husband Reedis of Titusville, FL; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Anna Lane of Clinton.

Services will be at 2 pm Thursday at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Howard Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 7-9 pm at Weatherford’s in Oak Ridge.
