Warren Bass, Sr., age 79, a resident of Oliver Springs passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2002 at his home.
Mr. Bass was born April 26, 1923 in Anderson County.
He was a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs. He worked as a builder and also was employed as an expeditor at Union Carbide for 15 years before retirement.
He was a charter member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a member of Omega Masonic Lodge 536 F&AM in Oliver Springs.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by: parents, John Marvin Bass and Elsie Chloe Bailey Bass; brothers, Ervin Bass, George Bass, the Rev. E.H. “Hayes” Bass; grandson, Johnny Marvin Bass.
Survivors: wife of 53 years, Ruby Katherine Wilson Bass of Oliver Springs; daughter, Deborah Diane Johnson and husband Marlon of Louisville, TN; sons, Marvin Thomas Bass of Oliver Springs, Warren Bass, Jr. and wife Wilma of Oliver Springs, Markus Rodney Bass and wife Belinda of Oliver Springs, Jackson Garner Bass and wife Nam of Soeul, South Korea, Antonio Stacy Wade Bass I and wife Rebecca of Oliver Springs; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, the Rev. William Harvey “Bill” Bass and wife Lois of Oliver Springs; sisters-in-law, Ozie Bass of Oliver Springs, Mona Bass of Oliver Springs, Ethel Reynolds and husband Floyd of Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Diggs and husband Alvin of Marlow, Violet Smith and husband George of Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Bradford Wilson and wife Ella of Ohio; a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 pm in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Bass and the Rev. Joseph Copeland officiating.
Burial and graveside service will be at 1 pm Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 at the R.W. Long Cemetery in Dutch Valley.
Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
