Grover “Bud” Cleveland Bates, 75, of Heiskell passed away Sunday, March 16, 1997 in the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
He was a retired building contractor and founder of Raccoon Valley Properties. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Lake City. He was also a member of Coal Creek Lodge No. 0492 F&AM.
Survivors: wife of 51 years, Bonnie Webb Bates; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Judy Bates of Norris and Roger and Bonnie Bates of Heiskell; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and David Robinson of Norris; grandchildren, Krista Bates, Adam Bates, Cassie Bates, Tyler Bates, Justin Robinson, Corbin Robinson and Austin Robinson; sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Hubert Borden of Gardendale, AL; sister, Thelma Graves of Gardendale, AL; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dr. Curtis Sexton of Lake City.
Family received friends 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 18, in Main Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services were 8 pm Tuesday, March 18 in Main Street Baptist Church, Lake City with the Rev. Don Martin and Dr. Ray Jones officiating.
Interment was 11 am Wednesday, March 19, in Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Claxton.
