Forest Cagley, age 77, of Claxton passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was born March 22, 1920, in Anderson County. He was a member of Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired steelworker for Gary Steel, USS Steel Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Cagley.
Survivors: wife of 42 years, Johnnie Coday Cagley of Claxton; son, George Cagley of Claxton; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Jeanie Cagley of Claxton; grandchildren, Richard, Amber, Mark and Vivianne of Claxton; brother, J.V. Cagley of Clinton; sisters, Delia Thomas of Clinton and Elmira Trentham of Clinton.
Visitation was 6-8 pm Monday, Nov. 10, in Cox-Martin Funeral Home.
Funeral service was 11 am Tuesday, Nov. 11, in Stephens Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Dean Ross officiating. Mr. Cagley lay in state 10:30-11 am. Interment in Morgan Memorial Gardens followed service.
