James Garfield Campbell, 85, of 2575 Briggs Road, Salisbury, NC, formerly of Oliver Springs, died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dot Campbell Briggs. He had been in declining health for 1½ years.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, John Mell and Ada Jones Campbell; and a son, George Garfield Campbell.
A retired farmer, he was of the Baptist faith.
His wife, Anna Rose Littleton Campbell, died July 4, 1982.
Survivors include a son, Paul Campbell of Oliver Springs; daughters, Mrs. Louvenia Campbell Rose and Mrs. Betty Campbell Mills both of Asheboro, NC; Mrs. Dot Campbell Briggs of Salisbury, NC, with whom he made his home; a half-brother, Robert L. Campbell of Oliver Springs; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday morning in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home. Graveside services were at 3 pm Tuesday at Providence Cemetery in Clear Springs.
