John S. Campbell, 70, died Wednesday at Anderson County Health Care Center, where he had been a resident since February of 1991.
Mr. Campbell was a highway department employee before retiring and served in the Army during 1942-46. He was a native of Perry County, KY.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche Colwell Campbell of Busy, KY; two sons, Ralph and Claude Campbell of Austin, IN; five daughters, Carolyn Colwell of Clinton; Lora Deaton of Yerkes, KY; Connie Deaton and Joyce Lewis, both of Busy; and Mary Smith of Upper Second Creek; a half sister, Martha Jane Wooton of Krypton, KY; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at Yerkes Baptist Church in Yerkes, KY, with the Rev. Paul Couch officiating. Burial was at Hickory Gap Cemetery in Campbell’s Creek, KY, with Engle Funeral Home of Hazard in charge. Martin Clinton Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
