James Ralph Carden, age 81, of Oak Ridge passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, in Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. Carden was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Anderson County. He retired from the TVA Forestry Division. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Carden; parents, James and Edna Viles Carden; and son, Herbert Carden.
Survivors: daughters, Carolyn Wilder and husband Milton of Clinton and Sue Foust of Lake City; son, James Carden and wife Pamela of Clinton; brothers, Gerald Carden of Lake City, Roy Carden of Lake City, Glenn Carden of Powell and Elmo Carden of Edgewater, FL; grandchildren, Keith and Tonya Carden of Lebanon, TN; Connie Carden of Oak Ridge; Brian Carden of Oak Ridge; Daniel Wilder of Clinton; Carol and Lane Segorbes of Knoxville; Paula and Larry Proffitt of Maynardville; Herb Kelly Foust of Lake City; Carla Burrell of Lake City; and Jordan Kelly Carden of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Tyler Carden, and Alexis Carden of Lebanon, TN; Luke Proffitt of Maynardville, and Caleb Burrell of Lake City; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Saturday, Feb. 21, in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Clinton.
Church services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday, Feb. 22, in Clear Branch Baptist Church, Lake City, with the Rev. Jeff Calloway officiating. Interment will follow in Leach Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
