Charles Ernest “Jack” Daugherty, 55, of Oliver Springs died Tuesday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Born Oct. 31, 1938 in Oliver Springs, he was the son of Harvey and Anna Belle Vann Daugherty. He married Irene West on April 1, 1964 in Oliver Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Susie Sieber; and nephew, Danny Gene Sieber.
Mr. Daugherty was a member of the Tuppertown Baptist Church of Oliver Springs and the American Legion Post 112, Oliver Springs. He was a coal miner and had served with the National Guard.
Mr. Daugherty enjoyed gardening and raising flowers.
Survivors include his wife of Oliver Springs; one son, Charles Michael Daugherty of Oliver Springs; two daughters, Marva Sue Daugherty and Angela Annette Daugherty, both of Oliver Springs; one sister and three brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Wilson and Dewitt Sieber, all of Oliver Springs, and Harvey West of Knoxville; two sisters-in-law, Dessie Mayton of Harriman and Zella Robbins of Keokee, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Friday in Indian Creek Baptist Church, Oliver Springs, with burial following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ellis Patterson and the Rev. Harold Colston officiated. The body was taken to the residence on Thursday and then to the church on Friday.
Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
