Evan Garland Davis, age 81, of Clinton, passed away Friday, March 29, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Petros.
He retired from the Boeing Company in Oak Ridge in Quality Control with approximately 35 years of service. He was a Untied States Navy Veteran who served during World War II on the USS Hermitage, USS Russell in the Pacific and North Africa.
Preceded in death by: Parents, Sam and Willie Foster Davis; brothers, Eugene Davis, D.L. Davis.
Survivors: Wife of 56 years, Margaret Ivey Davis of Clinton; daughters, Judith Irgens and husband Patric of Indianapolis, IN, Melinda Aafedt of Clinton; son, Stephen Davis and wife Jan of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Michael Irgens, Meredith Irgens, Ryan Aafedt, Stephen S. Davis, Matthew Davis; sister, Sammie Wright and husband John of Daytona, FL; brother, J.L. Davis and wife Eula of Cocoa, FL; brother-in-law, Luther Ivey and wife Alma of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Pauline Ivey of Clinton, Violet Ivey of Clinton; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The family received friends 7-9 pm Sunday, March 31, 2002 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Graveside service was held 1 pm Monday, April 1, 2002, at Woodhaven Memory Gardens in Claxton with the Rev. Kenneth Ivey and the Rev. James H. Barnes officiating.
