William “Bill” G. Dyer, age 91 of Clinton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center.
Mr. Dyer was born Feb. 11, 1910 in Lake City.
He was a member of Clinton First Baptist Church and very active in the XYZ Senior Adult Group.
He was past president of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, member of the 40th-8 Division of the American Legion, and a past member of the Lion Club. He was owner and operator of Bill Dyer Signs and Outdoor Advertising since 1929.
He was a United States Army Veteran who served as an Army engineer during World War II.
Mr. Dyer was preceded in death by: wife, Helen L. Dyer; parents, William Grant and Fannie George Dyer; sister, Irene Kilborne.
Survivors: daughter, Amy Dyer Grissom of Jonesboro, AR; granddaughter, Tippy Boling and husband, Scott of Jonesboro, AR; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Mason and Rhiannon Boling of Jonesboro, AR; special niece, Helen Frances Rutherford of Clinton.
The family received friends 6-8 pm Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following in the chapel with the Rev. Terry Baker and the Rev. Ken Abbott officiating.
Interment was at 2 pm Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 at Sunset Cemetery with full military honors being conducted at the gravesite by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
