James W. Edwards, 58, of Ridgeview Drive, Oliver Springs, died Friday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a long illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Russell Edwards.

A member of Fairview Baptist Church, Mr. Edwards was a self-employed truck driver for 22 years. He had worked for Preload, Inc., of Garden City, NJ, previously for 20 years.

Mr. Edwards was a member of East Fork Masonic Lodge 460 F&AM, Dyllis, and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite member of the Knoxville chapter.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwards would have been married 40 years on July 18, 1993.

Survivors include his father, Alfred Edwards Sr. of Harriman; his wife, Marie Griffith Edwards of Oliver Springs; stepmother, Dollie Edwards of Harriman; brothers, Alfred Jr. and wife Mary Edwards of Harriman and George (G.E.) and wife Debbie Edwards of Oliver Springs; sisters, Shelba Brown of Columbia, SC, whose husband was the late Lloyd Charlie Brown, and Brenda and husband, Coy Keene of Columbia; several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Saturday at the Sharp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Garvin Walls officiating. Burial was Sunday at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
