Francis Randolph Elkins, age 82 of the Medford community, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2001 at his residence.
He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church and member of Coal Creek Masonic Lodge #492 in Lake City. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II. He has three Bronze Stars, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals. He was a Captain of Anderson County Rescue Squad for more than 30 years.
Preceded in death by: wife, Ruby Elkins; parents, Sim J. and Clara Elkins; several brothers and sisters.
Survivors: daughters, Rebecca Ann and husband Charles T. Duff of Lake City; Fran Elkins of Medford; grandchildren, Jennifer Peterman of Knoxville; Richard Duff of Medford; Stephanie Moquin of Lake City; great-grandchildren, Lesley Moquin, Brandie Duff and Brittney Duff.
The family received friends 6-8 pm Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. Masonic service was 8 pm Sunday with funeral service following with the Rev. Tom Byrge and the Rev. Robbie Leach officiating.
Graveside service was 11 am Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City.
Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City in charge of arrangements.
