Thomas Onessie Elkins, 89, of Powell, died Friday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Powell, Steam Fitters 102, Knoxville, and Masonic Lodge 582 in Powell. He was a long-time resident of Robertsville community in oak Ridge. After his retirement, Mr. Elkins enjoyed farming. Born Oct. 5, 1904, in Hawkins County, he was the son of Harvey Gains and Mary Etta Price Elkins.
Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth Moore Elkins.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and Arthur R. Barker of Powell; sister, Lois Elkins of Knoxville; and grandchildren, Robert and Perry Barker of Powell; nephew, Ralph Elkins of Knoxville; and niece, Marietta Lawhorn of California.
Funeral service was conducted Sunday in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Davidson and the Rev. G.W. Boles officiating. Masonic service followed in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
