John Elliott, 88, of Andersonville, died Monday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

The son of William and Annie Elliott, he was born June 4, 1907. Mr. Elliott was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by 16 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Hill Elliott; sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward and Jean Elliott of Elizabeth City, NC; and Earl Elliott of Andersonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jessie and Jim Cantrell and Betty Carl Utley, all of Clinton, and Linda Jones of Knoxville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday in Red Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends my call 7-9 pm, Wednesday in Anderson County Funeral Home.
