Mrs. Elsworth Mae Ellis was born Nov. 28, 1920 in Lake City to the union of Charlie Huvon Baker and Lilly McClellan and responded to God’s call to come home on Dec. 31, 2000.
Elsworth was united in matrimony to Paul Leander Ellis on Dec. 24, 1948.
Elsworth had one older brother, Charles Huvon Baker Jr.
Elsworth was saved and enjoyed her Bible study with sister Manning, sister Wilma and family members.
The care and nurturing of her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and foster children was the focal point of her life. Elsworth was a caregiver and devoted her life to these tasks.
She was preceded in death by: Father, Charlie Baker; mother, Lilly Baker; brother, Charles Huvon Baker Jr., Squire Ellis, Alice Ellis, Betty Ellis, Roscoe, Lemore McClellan, Jame A. Ellis, Paul Luther, Massie Ellis, great-nieces Janet Moore and other relatives.
She leaves to mourn her passing: Loving husband Paul L. Ellis; first-born, the Rev. Sarah Evans and husband Harold Evans; son, Charles Dexter and wife Claudia Maire; grandsons, David L. Edwards, Joshua Ellis, devoted granddaughter, Tanya and Charles Smith; grandson, Mark Tate; nephews, Charles Baker; niece, Carolyn Baker; foster grandsons, George and Brandon; sister-in-law, Berline Ellis, the Rev. Libby Sales, Barbara Jean and Benson Ogbomo, Jame and Karen Ellis, Charles Ernest and Vercilla Ellis, Clarence and Erin Ellis, Grady Ellis, Cleo and Faye Ellis, Maxine and Willie Davidson, Marcia and Lincoln Barton, Brian and Dianna Ellis, Jan Ellis. Sister Manning, Sister Donna, Sister Wilma, Karen and Gary Harness, Sister Hildam Cleo Brown Wilson, Gene and Rose Summerour and many other beloved relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at Unity Mortuary, 1425 McCalla Avenue, Knoxville, noon Saturday, Dec. 6, 2001, with funeral following. Recessional following funeral ministries and family.
Interment is 10 am Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 at Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery, Lyons View Pike, Knoxville.
The family will assemble Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 after the funeral at the home of Charles and Claudia Ellis, 2829 Linden Avenue, Knoxville, for food.
