Olin D. Elrod of Clinton died Monday in his home.
An accountant, Mr. Elrod retired with 34 years of service from Martin Marietta Energy Systems/Union Carbide of Oak Ridge. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Elrod also had memberships in the Moose Lodge and Optimist Club and was past president of Eagles Club of Oak Ridge and president of South Clinton Girls Softball Association. He also was founder and past president of South Clinton Girls Softball league.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Olin and Etta Elrod, and two brothers, J.T. and Richard Elrod.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Elrod of Clinton; daughter, Carolyn Ruth Elrod of Lake City; brothers, Jack Elrod of Oak Ridge and R.G. Elrod of Winter Park, FL; sisters, Edna Elrod Johnson of Clinton, Lola Elrod of Oak Ridge and Ruth Elrod of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tom Schierbaum of Lake City. A memorial service was Thursday in Anderson County Funeral Home.
