George Wallace Emert, 63, of Lake City, who was found dead near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line on Aug. 12, will be buried at 2:30 pm Sunday at Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens in Claxton. Funeral services were held Saturday night at the Tennessee Valley Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton Bolton officiating.
Mr. Emert was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Verda, KY. He had lived on South Main Street in Clinton for three years before moving to Lake City. Before that, he resided in Louisiana. His mother is Edna Emert of Clinton and his father was the late Arthur Lee Emert.
He was the owner of the Total Fitness Center on Market Street in Clinton. Mr. Emert held a sixth degree black belt in Judo.
He was a Shriner. A veteran of the Air Force, he retired with a master sergeant rank. Mr. Emert was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors also include his wife, Johanna Emert of Lake City; a son, Bryan and wife, Anna of Clinton; a daughter, Sharon and husband Bob Thompson, of Louisiana; one step-daughter, Carolyn Hilton of Lake City; a brother and sister-in-law, Marshal and Betty Emert; five grandchildren, Megan Hilton of Lake City; Jennifer Emert of Louisiana; Jerry and Ashley Emert of Clinton and Bobby Thompson of Louisiana.
