Raymond Eskridge Jr. of Oliver Springs departed this life at his home on Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997, after a brief illness.
A long-standing and devoted member of Little Leaf Baptist Church, he served in many positions. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired from Martin Marietta after 40 years of service. He was a member of the 103 Harriman Junction Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Eskridge Sr.
Survivors: wife, Anna Rose Eskridge of Oliver Springs; son, Norman and wife, Audrey Eskridge of Jefferson City; daughters, Delores A. and husband Glen Steele of Knoxville and Vivian and husband Kenny Smith of Knoxville; mother, Lennie Coleman of Oliver Springs; sisters, Rosie Jones of Rockwood and Margaret Smith of Harriman; brothers-in-law, Hershel Fritts of Oliver Springs, Curtis Fritts of Oliver Springs and Robert Fritts of Nashville; sisters-in-law, Hazel Robinson of Oliver Springs, Theresa Fritts of Oliver Springs, Margaret Harris of Knoxville and Betty Fritts of Nashville; cousin, J.C. Eskridge of Rockwood; two uncles; two aunts; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:45- 2 pm Sunday, Sept 28, in Little Leaf Baptist Church, Oliver Springs. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Elder Thomas Dews officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
