Dabney Family



The Dabney family settled in the Indian Creek area, Campbell County Tn, in the early 1800's.

Charles Dabney, Sr., born ca 1761, and his wife Elizabeth are the probable parents of the Dabneys who came to Campbell Co. Tn.

Their sons were

Charles Dabney, Jr.
Cornelius Dabney
Thomas Dabney
Benjamin Dabney
James Dabney.
There were probably daughters also.


Charles Dabney, Jr and his wife, Anna Reaves, married around 1835. Their children:

Benjamin Dabney and his wife, Lucy Ann Reeves were married around 1836. Benjamin died around 1858/59. He and Lucy had one daughter:

James Dabney and his wife Melinda Reaves were married 9 Oct 1842 in Campbell Co. They had six children:

Rev George Otis Dabney was born June 1, 1896 and was the son of Jackson and Lurana (Loving) Dabney of Anderson County. His paternal grandparents were George W and Sarah (Cannon) Dabney; the son of James Dabney.

Otis married Ellen Marie Harris. Otis was called as pastor of Longfield Church in 1932. His wife, Marie died in Dec of 1937. He later marrid Mae Shelton. In his later years, Otis moved to Lexington Ky and died there Nov 24, 1963. Dabney was survived by his children:

Ann Dabney
George Ed Dabney; George lived in Clinton.
O L Dabney; O L lived in Clinton and was principal at Glen Alpine School.
