George Washington Ford, 85, of Boyer Road, Andersonville Rt. 1, died Sunday at Methodist Medical Center.
Mr. Ford was born Feb. 22, 1908 in Union County to the late George W. and Pernevia Ford. A son, five daughters, one brother and five sisters, also preceded him in death.
He moved in 1934 to Anderson County.
Mr. Ford was a self-employed carpenter and farmer.
He was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. A favorite pastime was hunting ginseng.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Ruth McBee Ford of Andersonville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Malcomb and Shirley Ford and Michael and Jane Ford of Heiskell; Tim and Tammy Ford of Andersonville; Oakley Ford of Indianapolis, IN; seven daughters, Doris and Bill Lundy and Ruth and Bob Toole of Halls; Edith Ford of Halls; Sheila and David Humphrey of Andersonville; Geneva (Neva) and Randy Sawyer of Clinton; Claudia Huskey of Fountain City; Juanita Legan of Indianapolis, IN; one step-daughter and her husband, Dianna and Michael McLeod of Gastonia, NC; father and mother-in-law, Laurence and Thenia McBee of Heiskell; a son-in-law, Taylor Pulliam of Baton Rouge, LA; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services were held today (Wednesday) at Martin Clinton Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard McComas and the Rev. Paul Hatmaker officiating. Burial was in Norris Memorial Gardens.
