William Thomas Gallaher Sr.




William Thomas Gallaher Sr., 73, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday in his residence.

A former Clinton resident, he owned and operated Clinton Tire and Oil Company with his sons, Bill Jr. and Mike, in Clinton. Mr. Gallaher was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Clinton Optimist Club and Clinton Masonic Alpha Lodge 376. He was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Reese Martin Gallaher.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Gallaher of Oak Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and William Matthews of Harrisburg, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Jr. and Mary Francis Gallaher and Michael and Regina Gallaher, all of Clinton; stepdaughters and spouses, Susan and John Gamble of Clinton and Carol and David Taylor of Clemmons, NC; stepson and spouse, Charlie and Shelia Armstrong of Jackson; grandchildren, Jason Gallaher, Ashley and Will Gallaher, Mark Kreis, Holly and Ben Gamble, Caroline and John David Taylor, Matthew Armstrong and Colton Waller; sister, Nancy Worley of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Monday in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton with the Rev. Bill Rowland officiating.
