Ida Inez Gamble, 95, died May 4 at her home on Sulphur Springs Road, Clinton.
She was born in the Robertsville community of Oak Ridge on Dec. 19, 1897, to the late Sam and Maggie Wilkins Gamble.
A sister, Francis Freels, and brothers, Eugene, Oscar, John and Young Gamble, preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Clinton High School and the University of Tennessee.
Miss Gamble taught in public schools for 43 years. She taught Latin and English at Etowah, Decatur, Lake City (Coal Creek) and Powell.
She was a longtime member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.
Services will be 7 pm tonight (Wednesday) at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Rowland officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Gamble Cemetery in Oak Ridge. The body will lie in state from 6-7 pm prior to services.
