Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Tennessee Valley Funeral Home Chapel for Wanda Garner, 58, of Clinton, who died suddenly Friday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Burial was in Tennessee Valley Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ronald Guthrie officiated.
Mrs. Garner had been a cook for Early Leaning Tree Day Care Center. She was a member of Longfield Baptist Church in Lake City and had taught Sunday School for many years.
Her father, Ed Hackney; and a brother, Bobby Hackney preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, James L. Garner; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Patsy Garner of Clinton; Stanley and Jo Garner of Claxton; Jeff and Lavone Garner of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Bobby Carroll; Aline and Mike Nelson; Sharon and Ronnie Gaus, all of Claxton; Melinda and Dallas Martin of Clinton; Sheila and Roger Bard ill of Virginia Beach, VA; Judy and Darrell Metcalf of Claxton; mother, Mrs. Maude Hackney; sisters, Mrs. Karen Burnette, Mrs. Joyce Snyder and Mrs. Debra Giles, all of Clinton; Mrs. Katherine Bills of Claxton; Mrs. Loretta Dew of Heiskell; brothers, Charles (Buck) Hackney of Torrence, CA; Hubell and Tommy Hackney of Heiskell; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
