Mrs. Marcus Mae Goans, age 90, of the Laurel Grove community, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at her home in Laurel Grove.
She was born April 26, 1911, in Anderson County.
She was the oldest member of Indain Bluff Missionary Baptist Church. She had remained an active member up until her recent illness. She enjoyed raising flowers and crafts of all kinds. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Preceded in death by: parents, Mose Braden and Haley Brown Braden; husband, Dan Goans; brothers, Lige, Bill, Robert, and James Braden; sisters, Lizzie Braden Ward, Maudie Braden Hooks and Lilly Braden Davis.
Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Audry and Carolyn Goans of Briceville; daughters and son-in-laws, Lillian and James Hooks of Briceville, Imogene and Harry Winchester of Briceville; grandchildren, Debbie and Dan Harness, Pam and Church Foust, Danny and Nancy Winchester, Michelle and Daniel Belcher; great-grandchildren, Amy and Jeremy Gill, Abby and Brian Tackett, Adam and Melissa Foust, Nick Harness, Andy Harness; great-great-grandchildren, Emily and Gerrod Tackett, Caitlyn Gill, Travis Foust; brother, Isaac Braden of Briceville; sister, Rosa Caughron of Maryville; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Goans, Stella Braden, special niece, Gertrude Singleton; special friend of family, Virgil Green.
Visitation was 6-8 pm Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service was 8 pm Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.
The body lie in state 1-2 pm Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Indian Bluff Missionary Church prior to graveside service at 2 pm at Indain Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery.
