Bessie N Hackworth, 77, of Oliver Springs, died Thursday at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Ollie May Patterson Pride, her husband, L Mack Hackworth, and two children, Maxine and Billy Hackworth.
She was a member of the Orchard View Baptist Church and a past member of the Windrock Baptist Church. Mrs Hackworth taught Sunday school classes at both churches. She retured after working in the nutrition program for the U S Government. She also worked as a teacher's aide at both the Oliver Springs High School and the Oliver Springs Elementary School.
Mrs. Hackworth was a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 211.
Survivors include four children, Betty and her husband, George Martin, of Clinton; Johnnie and wife, Rheba, of Oliver Springs; Herman and wife, Jean Hackworth of Jonesboro, Ga., and Ralph R and wife, Betty Hackworth; daughter-in-law, Velma Hackworth of Harriman and two sisters, Kelsie Tucker of Oliver Springs and Mary Pride Cox of Kingston; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and on great-great-grandchilddaughter.
Services were Saturday at Orchard View Baptist Church with the Rev Ellis Patterson, the Rev Don Pride and the Rev Dr. Ted Raby officiating. Burail was in Oliver Springs Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
