Adeline Bates Hall




Adeline Bates Hall, 75, died suddenly on Monday, Nov. 2, at her home in Norris.

Mrs. Hall was born and reared in Chicago, Ill.; and had lived in Norris since 1960. She was a member of the Norris Religious Fellowship Church and the Norris Women's Club, serving as president from 1971 - 72. She also was active in the bowling league at Tri-County Lanes for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Katie Murphy of Norris and Wendy Hall of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandsons, Jason Stooksbury of Tellico Plains, and Curtis and Charles Murphy of Norris; a former husband, Gordon Hall of Kodak; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Luella Bates of Norris, and a sister, Helen Swenson of Omaha, Neb.

Any memorials may be made to The Salvation Army.

Funeral services were held Sunday for Katherine I. Hall, 69, at the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Hooks and the Rev. Jim Carr officiating. Graveside services were Monday at the Estes Cemetery of Coalfield. Mrs. Hall died Friday at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was a lilfelong resident of Oliver Springs and was a member of the Beech Park Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ona Carson; two brothers, Joe and Jack Carson and two sisters, Johnnie Mae Carson and Hazel Lee Coker.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond (Slim) Hall and three children, Larry and his wife, Shelley of Oliver Springs; David and wife, Nancy of Coalfield, and Judy and her husband, Newell Lane of Oak Ridge; a sister, Eloise Cox Denman of Oliver Springs; six grandchildren, Tom Hall, Michelle Hall, Sarah Gallagher, Brandee Lane, Halston Lane and Nathan Hall; two great-granchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
