Lula Maglin (Peggy) Halsey of Sweet Estates, Marlow community, Clinton, died Nov. 15 at Methodist Medical Center.
She had worked for 28 years as a registered nurse at MMC. She was working in the nursery at the time of her retirement in 1988. Mrs. Halsey was a member of the Tennessee Nurses Association and an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She was a Virginia native, the daughter of Otis Clyde and Edna M. Pannell. She earned her nursing degree at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Richmond, VA.
She and her husband, James W. (Red) Halsey were married on July 13, 1947, in Hillsville, VA. He retired in 1988 as a supervisor with Martin Marietta, Y-12 Plant.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Judy and her husband, Tom Carson of Chattanooga; and a son, Bill and wife, Helene Halsey of Knoxville; two sisters, Edna Margaret Davis of Wytheville, VA, and Martha Albright of Fayetteville, AR; three brothers, Otis Reed Pannell of Alexandria, VA, Clayton Pannell of Etowah, and Lorris Pannell of Winston-Salem, NC; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 18 at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ed Benoway officiating. Burial was at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
