Faye Hammons, 59 of Crossville, died Tuesday in Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge following an illness.
A native of Tifton, GA, Mrs. Hammons moved to Oak Ridge in 1945. She had lived in Crossville for the past two years and was a member of Church of Christ and Oak Ridge Chapter of 99’s. She enjoyed the fellowship of her fellow pilots in the organization. Mrs. Hammons and her husband owned and operated Don’s Meat Market in East Village Shopping Center for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father, William B. Daugherty.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Hammons of Crossville; mother, Ruby Lee Daugherty of Oak Ridge; sons and daughter-in-law, Donald E. II and Janice Hammons of Crossville and Michael Hammons of St. Louis, MO; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Pete Cummings of Claxton and Donna and Scott Reed of Oak Ridge; brother, Billy Daugherty of Norcross, GA and grandchildren, Donald Hammons III, Christopher Hammons, Billy Cunningham, Jenifer Cunningham and Gwen Steele.
Funeral service will be 8 pm Thursday in Sharp Funeral Home chapel with Eugene Underwood officiating. Burial and graveside services will be 1 pm Friday in Anderson Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call 6-8 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
