The Rev. Thomas Crews Hampton, 79, of Cherokee Avenue, Clinton, died Monday at the Lake City Health Care Center.
Mr. Hampton was a member of the First Wesleyan Church in Clinton. Before retiring, he was minister of the Stair Avenue Methodist Church in Knoxville.
He was born Oct. 15, 1913 in Ethridge, to the late Tom and Ada Keeton Hampton.
His wife, Thelma Hampton, and a granddaughter, Brenda Fox, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, J.W. Hampton of Ohio; grandchildren, Allen Hampton of Claxton, Karen Hampton and Tamey McDuffie of Knoxville; Greg Hampton of Clinton, Jimmy and Nancy Hampton of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Greg, Jason, Jacob, Jamie and Justin; sisters, Mary Hammett and Mauveline Brewer of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Harry Hampton of Ethridge and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday (today) at 8:30 pm at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Cox officiating. Burial will be Thursday at the John Lay Cemetery in Ethridge.
