James William "Willie" Hawkins, 78, of Lake City died Sunday, March 17, 1996, in UT Hospital, Knoxville.

Mr. Hawkins was of Baptist faith. He was born April 25, 1917, in Anderson County. He worked for many years as a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Cole Hawkins; brothers, Verlie and Anthony Hawkins; and a sister, Geneva Lynn.

Survivors are wife, Dorothy Hawkins; sisters, Lavada Foust of Lake City and Juanita Pawlowski of Buffalo, N.Y.; several nieces , nephews; friends; and a special friend, Ancil Mayes of Knoxville.

Graveside funeral services was 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, in Island Ford Cemetery, Lake City, with Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Cox Funeral Home, Lake City, was in charge of arrangements.
