HERRELL, OLVER ELIJAH - age 82, of Powell, Tennessee, passed away at LaFollette Hospital Thursday, January 28, 1999. He worked for Clinton City as Service Director. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Heiskell, TN. He was a member of Powell Masonic Lodge #582 and a member of Scottish Rite in Knoxville. He was preceded in death by parents, Oliver H. and Sarah Herrell of Powell; brothers, Charlie M. Herrell, Albert W. Herrell and Clifford Herrell; sisters, Ollie Mae McLemore and Ruby Johnson. Survivors: wife, Margaret (Roberts) Herrell; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Kay Herrell, Jim Herrell, Robert and Bonnie Herrell of Powell, Paul and Gladys Herrell of Andersonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and George Whaley of Knoxville, Mary Ruth and Steve Anderson, Judy and Dale McDonald of Powell; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Henry and Roxie Phillips of Norris; sisters-in-law, Gladys Herrell and Mary Herrell of Powell; brother-in-law, Clyde McLemore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Heiskell. Family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday, January 30 with Masonic Service following at 8:30 p.m. at Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31 at Calvary Baptist Church in Heiskell with Rev. Harold Ogle and Rev. Dan Dunkel officiating. Mr. Herrell will lie in state from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Grandsons will be Pallbearers. Interment will be Sunday, January 31, 1999 at Zion Cemetery in the Claxton Community following the funeral service. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of arrangements.
