Martha Effie Hughes, age 94, of Clinton passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Hughes was born July 17, 1907 in Tuscaloosa, AL.
She was a member of Edgemoor Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by: husband, John C. Hughes; parents, Monroe and Annie Kellum; two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors: daughters, Louise Gray of Oak Ridge; Johnnie Ruth Blankenship and husband, Thomas, of Decatur, AL; Ann Jenkins and husband, Charles “Buddy” of Clinton; sons, John W. Hughes and wife, Olene, of Decatur, AL; R.D. Hughes and wife, Mary, of Oak Ridge; Charles Hughes and wife, Ellen, of Powell; H. K. Hughes and wife, Pat, of Clinton; Jimmy Hughes and wife, Alice, of Clinton; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following at 8 pm in the chapel with the Rev. John Burleson and the Rev. Mike Petty officiating.
Interment will be at 10 am Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.
