James Rudolph Humphrey




James Rudolph Humphrey, age 79, of Heiskell passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at Methodist Medical Center.

He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 17.

He was an avid farmer. His favorite hobbies were showing school children and friends his collection of birds and fowl.

He worked for Magnet Mills until it closed. Rudolph retired after 24 years from Anderson County School Systems in the maintenance department.

He was a United States Army veteran who served in World War II and was a Prisoner of War in Germany.

Preceded in death by beloved daughter Valerie Humphrey; parents, James and Rosa Rucker Humphrey; brother, Vasco Humphrey and sisters, Edna Loftin, Lucille Whitson and Anna Cooper.

Survivors include: wife Helen Beets Humphrey of Heiskell; daughters, Janet Wilshire of Powell and Peggy Hundley and husband Anthony of Knoxville; son, Jim Humphrey and wife Tracy of Clinton; stepson Arnold Beets and wife Jean of Clinton; stepdaughters, Anna Lou Hansard and husband Ronnie of Clinton and Mary Helen McNair and husband Danie of Oak Ridge; grandchildren Andi and Jessi Wilshire, Carly Cechini and Ryan and Holly Humphrey; step-grandchildren, Emma Nuckols, Debbie Moore, Rhonda Williams, Donna Harrington, Valerie Wilcox, Steve and Jason McNair and Chris and Amy Beets; brother Ben E. Humphrey of Heiskell; sister, Beatrice Bridges of Powell; special niece, Glenda Rasnake of Heiskell; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives.

The family received friends 5-8 pm Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral service following at 8 pm in the chapel with Rev. Ernest Wright and Gene Wright officiating. Interment was held 2 pm Saturday at Taylor’s Chapel Cemetery.
