Mae Underwood Irons, 85, of Tellico Plains, died Nov. 25 at Sweetwater Hospital in Sweetwater.
She was the mother of Jim Irons of
Powell.
Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Irons Sr., and two sons, Gerald and Lynn Irons.
Survivors include daughters Otella Weeks of Florida, Mary Kelley and Jean Estiver, both of Tellico Plains, June Dalton of Houston, Texas, Susie Harrington of
Sarasota, Fla., Alice Premer of Illinois, and Bonnie McVey of Bryan, Texas. Surviving sons in addition to Jim Irons are Juel Irons and John Wesley Irons Jr., both of Tellico Plains. Mrs. Underwood had 34 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Surviving sisters are Bertha Hamby of Epworth, Ga., and Kate Clowers of Madisonville. She also had a brother, Harry
Underwood of Etowah.
Services were held Saturday night at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home Chapel in Tellico Plains with the Rev. Beecher Miller and the Rev. Lane Stephenson officiating. Interment was Sunday afternoon at Ironsburg Cemetery in Tellico
Plains.
