Mary Louise Scruggs Jackson, 81,
of 332
Edgewood Drive, Clinton, died Saturday at her home.
Mrs. Jackson
had been a member of
St. Mark United Methodist Church for 74 years and had attended when it
was known as "The Little
White Church." Her family lived across the street where the First
American Bank is now located. Mrs.
Jackson taught the beginner's Sunday school class for several years and
later taught a youth group.
She also taught in Bible school classes.
She was the daughter if
the late Calvin and Edna
Scruggs of Clinton. A brother, Tommy Scruggs, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her
husband of 57 years, Turner Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon
and Dr. Monte Biggs of
Knoxville; grandchildren, Melanie Biggs of Athens, Ga., and Kevin Biggs
of Knoxville; sisters, Leona
Scruggs and Agnes Goans, both of Clinton; Helen Silvers of Oak Ridge; a
brother, Calvin Scruggs of
Clinton; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held
Monday at Sunset
Cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Patterson, the Rev. Neville Hammer, the Rev.
Lee Cate and the Rev. Larry
Best officiated. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist
Church. Holley-Gamble
Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
