James MOORE's death was noted in the Knoxville (Tennessee) Register December 5, 1838. It appears below, as found in the archives at the McClung Library, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
DIED--November 22, 1838, at his residence in Anderson County, Tennessee, Mr. James Moore, Senior. Father Moore was born in Halifax County, Virginia, January 15, 1764. During the Revolutionary struggle, his father moved to North Carolina, where father Moore married, and from whence he moved to Tennessee, where he reminded till his death.
Father Moore had long been a member of the Methodist E. Church, and was a sincere lover of the doctrines of the cross. He spent much time in reading, meditation, and prayer. In the latter part of his life, he appeared so much engaged in the things of Christ's kingdom, that he scarcely seemed to think he was a resident of this world--but wholly enrapt in the things of the Heavenly. During his four weeks of severe illness, he was resigned to the will of his Heavenly father, and not a
murmur was known to escape his lips. A few minutes previous to his death, he said, "I am not going to stay here long; I want you all to meet me in that good world," and then died in the triumphs of faith. He left a wife and numerous connection to lament their loss, which is his eternal gain.
Of all on earth I do possess, I know religion is the best; T'will fit us for the world above, That we may dwell with Christ in love, Farewell dear friends, I'm going home, To see my blessed Savior there, Prove faithful then a few more days, And we will meet with Christ above. O when we incet to part no more, We'll sing salvation to our God, And love the King that sav'd our souls, While endless praise employs our tongues.

Reseaching the above poem, I believe this to be an orginial poem written just before James' death.
