Elba Jeffers, 85, of Clinton died
Monday in his
home.
Mr. Jeffers was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton
and a veteran of World
War I I. He served with the Naval Mobile Construction battalion from
1943 - 1945. Following his
service in the Navy, he became co-owner and operator of J & K Gulf
Service Station in Claxton, where
he remained until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Marie King
Jeffers.
Survivors include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,
Elmer and Velvet Whaley of
Clinton and Chandler and Maude King of Claxton; sister-in-law, Ottie King
of Knoxville, several nieces
and nephews and special friend and neighbor, Virginia Boyd of
Clinton.
Funeral service will be
2 pm Thursday in Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Dean
officiating. Burial will be in
Sunset Cemetery following the service.
Family will receive friends
from 7 - 9 pm
Wednesday.
