John P. Kennedy, 66, of Main Street, Lake City, died Tuesday at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

A native of Campbell County, he was the son of the late Silas and Bessie Carroll Kennedy. A brother, Alfred Kennedy, also preceded him at death.

Mr. Kennedy was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired sheet metal worker.

Fishing was a favorite pastime.

Survivors include daughters, Sherry Heatherly of LaFollette; Dorline Smith of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah and John Kish of Hobart, IN; Janice and Clyde King of LaFollette; Martha Owens of Melvindale, MI; Nannie Jadan of Lincoln Park, MI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charley and Toots Kennedy of Valparaiso, IN; Ervin and Wanda Kennedy of Lake City; Steve and Maxine Kennedy of LaFollette; and Hubert Kennedy of Melvindale; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 pm. Services will be at 11 am Thursday at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edwin Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Baker’s Forge Cemetery in LaFollette.
