Lassie Magnolia Key




Lassie Magnolia Webb Patterson Key, 91, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Christmas Eve.

The daughter of Robert “Bob” and Ellen Duncan Webb, she was born Aug. 24, 1904, in Anderson County. Mrs. Key was affectionally called “Granny” by friends and family alike, her family said.

A life-long Anderson County resident, Mrs. Key was a member if Laurel Grove Baptist Church. She was the oldest member of a five generation family.

Mrs. Key was manager of Norwood Elementary School Cafeteria and the first person to start a school lunch program in Anderson County. A historian, she quilted and enjoyed crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnny Patterson; husband, Bill Key; son, Ernest Fred “Bill” Patterson; sisters, Ruby Hazel Webb, Vaudie Jewell Rainey, Bonnie Lee Qualls, and Dorothy Grace Meek, brother, Joseph Holloway Webb; grandchildren, Johnny Hugh Patterson and William Marion “Little Bill” Patterson; great-grandchildren, Paula Gail Moore and Penny Patterson; and son-in-law, Leamon Kennedy.

Survivors include sons and a daughter-in-law, Wilburn Ray and Elouise Patterson and Robert Burlson Patterson, all of Oliver Springs; daughter, Joyce Ann Kennedy, with whom she made her home for many years; step-son, Billy Key and wife Alice of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Verda and Joe Robbins of Oliver Springs; sister-in-law, Maysel D. Webb of Oliver Springs; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and other relatives.

Funeral services will be 8:30 pm Wednesday in Sharp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Bass officiating. Graveside service and burial will be noon Thursday in Frost Bottom Cemetery.

Friends may call 6 to 8:30 pm Wednesday in Sharp Funeral Home.
